Introduction to master of medicine

The purpose of this web page is to provide prospective students with more detailed information about the Master of Medicine (Primary Care Skin Cancer Medicine) which has been offered since July 2006.

The target group for this degree is doctors working in primary care, including “mainstream” general practitioners with a special interest in skin cancer medicine, rural doctors, doctors working in skin cancer clinics, and other doctors with an interest in the field.

The purpose of the program is to improve the outcomes for patients with skin cancer by improving the management of skin cancer in the primary care environment.

The program recognises the reality that most patients with skin cancer in Australia are diagnosed and managed in primary care, and that for many patients, access to specialists is limited either through geography or economics. We hope to provide a mechanism whereby primary care physicians can increase their knowledge and skills in this field.
